A request has been made to the Board of Zoning Adjustment seeking approval for a height variance on a detached garage located at 22 E. 69th Terrace.
An existing detached garage that is too small for today’s cars is being converted into a more useable solarium/lounge space to clean up the back yard of an old home. As it will now be considered just an accessory building rather than a garage, the new size will need variances. The roof will be peaked on one side, adding roughly 4′ over the 10′ limit for a shed. The existing square footage will not change, but it is currently 226 square feet which is over the limit as well and will need a variance. Other fenestration will be added as part of the scope, but will not need any exceptions made.
The hearing will be at 9:00 am on June 13. The hearing will be hybrid; both in-person at City Hall, 414 East 12th Street, 26th floor Council Chamber, Kansas City, Missouri and virtually via Zoom. Details can be found here.
