Kansas City Snow Removal Process

Snow removal on public streets is provided by the City of Kansas City, MO.  The City has two categories: Arterial Roads and Residential Roads. Arterial Roadways are the priority, with Residential Roads following.

Visit the City’s website for more information on the snow removal process. You can track the City’s progress by visiting the KCMO Snow Plow Map.

When it snows, the City asks that residents park all vehicles off-street. Parking cars off-street greatly helps plows plow curb-to-curb and better remove snow. If you must park on street, the City requests the following parking practice:

  • On streets that run north/south, park vehicles on the west side of the street
  • On streets that run east/west, park vehicles on the north side of the street.

Armour Hills Snow Removal Program

The Armour Hills Homes Association provides supplemental snow removal on public streets within the boundaries of Armour Hills.  The policy is to evaluate each snowfall event and determine the appropriateness of the supplemental service, balancing budgetary concerns with the mobility needs and safety of residents. The President of Armour Hills Homes Association, in consultation with FirstService Residential, will make the decision as to whether to activate the Supplemental Snow Removal Program. The decision will be based on the following factors:

  • The amount of snowfall in Armour Hills reaching at least four inches, utilizing data from the National Weather Service
  • The forecasted temperatures within the next 24 hours, utilizing data from the National Weather Service
  • The anticipated snow removal by the City of Kansas City
  • Whether the snowfall occurs on a weekday or weekend
  • Remaining budget for the Snow Removal Program

Notice of activation of the Snow Removal Program will be posted on the Armour Hills Facebook page and sent via email. Armour Hill’s contractor utilizes a small pickup truck as compared to the City’s trucks and will plow curb to curb, if possible.  No salt or ice control products will be used and plowing will not be down to bare blacktop.
